Simple blinker mod, nice look

Okay so i know theres already a bunch of taillight threads, but ive never seen anyone do this. If its been done, I APOLOGIZE. but i couldnt find it anywhere

Simple taillight mod that anyone can do.
After trying a few different things with different bulbs and stuff, i got the perfect matching color: 4 light coats of candy red CLEAR paint to each STOCK AMBER 7440 bulb.(rear blinker bulbs)

It looks better in person, not just saying that, it really does. I love how much it cleaned up the rear end. When theyre not blinking, the red bulbs reflecting blends perfectly as opposed to the stock amber color. When they're blinking, the color is identical to the led brake lights.

Also, another thing i wanted to share. I did my first (break in) oil change the other day, the filter came with the wrong oil plug washer so i used the old one. That night, i noticed it was leaking. long story short, they are crush washers and must be changed everytime. im not saying it will leak if u dont, but theres a huge possibility. Toyota doesnt carry them but subaru does for a 1.98 each

You sure the paint will hold up to the heat of the bulb?

The fact that they only blink might make heat a non-issue.

They will soon. But, you have to remember parts are making their way over slowly. People who have had fender benders are waiting weeks or months for parts. Also ... the car is built in a Subaru (well Fuji) factor.

Sorry i meant to include this in the thread, yes they are fine. ive done a couple tests by leaving the hazards on for a good while and there has been no sign of the paint being destroyed. And yes they only blink ever so often which keeps me from worrying.

$1.98 apiece? Those things cost the dealer like $.19 apiece, if that. When I worked in a Toyota parts dept, we used to give them out for free when a customer would buy a filter from us. At least buy a 10pk and ask for a discount.

hahah yea make sure you use "synthetic blinker fluid"

..and about the pricing, i have connects with a toyo dealer so the oil and filter was almost half off normal price. after seeing a little leak on my brand new car, a dollar and 98 cents was the least of my worries
