GReddy sources defected exhausts to "#2" vendors?

From a member's sale thread...

Anyone know how true this is? I know there are some vendors on this forum selling this exhaust who are not on GReddy's Authorized Dealer list and may not honor GReddy's 365 day warranty...

why would this? This sounds like normal business to me. Im not saying this is true but i do have a feeling it may be. This goes down on the tech field, lets say AMD is making their highest cpu and a core or two dont work then they just rebrand it as a lower end cpu. Its really the same thing for greddy, instead of branding it as something else they might cut the price in half.

But shouldn't we know upfront (legally) when a vendor is selling a defected version? All vendors right now are selling it for $575 shipped or more which isn't a huge discount from GReddy's $625 MSRP. Are these really being sold with defects with that small of a discount?

I can't talk for every manufacturer, but for various reasons, I know a few... and none of them sells off "defect" versions of product to "2nd tier" vendors. Either the product is binned outright, or sold explicitly as "damaged" or "incorrect" product.

I would think damaged or defective ones would be much cheaper, $50 off MSRP(roughly 10%) is typical of online pricing for lots of automotive parts.

Agree here.

Most of the time "Defect" items are marked as defective and sold accordingly. No quality manufacturer would want 2nd tier items floating around passing for originals.
