Road trip questions thread
Guys in planning a road trip soon and I have a few questions. I'll post more as they come up.
1. How many hours would a full tank of fuel yield. Steady 65-75mph with out stopping with about a few gallons left. 2. What's the longest one should drive non stop with out sleep and be safe. 3. How long realistically would it take to drive 3,000 miles. Florida to California More questions to come soon

i always make sure to bring enough cigs and soda to last me. and as to the how long, it depends on a couple things: how long are you planning on driving each day, what route you take, how fast you can go (radar detector can help with this, but don't drive stupid) and other drivers

i've managed to make it from CT to NC in about 8.5 hours, but you have to make sure you don't do anything to get noticed by the cops, and use the bathroom before hand, so you don't have to stop for anything but gas. also: have some cash on you for Mr. Murphy, when he comes knocking.

1. i would guess around 5 hours or a little less depending how you drive.
2. I would say that really depends on the person, I'm a bus driver so I've driven up to 10 hours a day. But I know for us by law you are not allowed to work more than 6 hours straight without a 30 minutes break. 3. This also depends on the speed, but I would guess like 43 hours? |

1. Well I usually get around 30mpg on the highway so. 60mph at 30mpg would be 2 gallons of gas an hour. The car has a 13 gallon tank so about 5-6 hours. (granted it is almost 4am so my math may be off a bit)
2. That depends entirely on how much Monster/Red Bull you have. I drove from Atlanta to Boston only stopping for gas. Took me 19 hours. I finished off a six pack of Monster. Granted when I got there I was tweaking pretty hard from all the Monster...meh it worked. 3. Depends on your speed, number of stops, travel time per day. |

I recently took the car out from LA to Vegas and back and managed 380 miles on a full tank of gas. I'm pretty sure I could have easily gone beyond 400 miles if it weren't for a couple stops along the way and the upward climb to maintain an average 80mph. I have the 6AT btw.
And yes, I thoroughly enjoyed my time cruising in this car! The look on people's faces as I drive by is

I drove my (manual) BRZ 6.5 hours on the highway with about 1/4 tank of gas left over at my destination. The car got 36 mpg.
