Audio System/JBL Package

Hey guys there is a few threads cycling around in regards to the poor audio quality mainly in the back of the car. with 2 x 3" inch speakers.

i Also understand JBL have manufactured an option to fit the 86/BRZ in most european countries uk/germany..

was wondering if anybody who already own this car could put their 2 bob worth on the audio system..

and also anyone who has already fitted their car out with a nice small sub and tweeters would like to post some pick of the best way to integreate it with the GT/GTS head unit..

I get my GTS end of this month

Poor audio quality throughout the whole car, and even worse in the back.

To some people it doesn't matter that much and even me as a sound enthusiast, I'm not too fussed either because it's not that hard to fix.

I haven't had a chance to swap anything out just yet, but by the end of the year I hope to have replaced all the speakers + added amp and 2 10" subs. Still not sure how I want to approach the sub install, I'm tempted to get a new headunit as well which I feel is a bit of a waste (considering my car is a GTS) but whatever, will have to see what I can do.

Congrats on the almost delivery of your car! Hope to see you on the road soon

If you haven't already been to this section of the forum; there are heaps of threads dedicated to owner's opinions of the sound system. Few threads that mention the JBL/Scion partnership plus few custom builds.

Thanks Danger... champion

That's exactly what I've Heard. its a shame they don't offer the $1000 JBL package in aus.. wouldn't have worry bout putting in a third party speaker system and the rattles.

Im an enthusiastas well im audio production i have some old stuff from my old rolla but i dont think the caseing is ganna fit in the mini boot. lol

2 x 10's will be nice.

i dont think ill put in tweeters, i dont want to clutter the dash or doors.. i like the flush look, maybe some 3 way 6" drivers.

does the GTS have a built in EQ for the speakers ? like 1k3k4k levels.. ?? i think i saw something on the fuji page which make the GTS head unit.. just unsure if Toyota have included it with their firware on the unit .

I've got a plan for my sound setup. It involves modifying the boot a bit. And will cost a small fortune.

Don't want to say more than that just yet in case I can't find the funds for it. But if it is a go ahead, I'll post pics. =D

That's as good a setup as I've managed (although I use R2 rather than R4). Now, the bad news is that despite achieving a fairly neutral balance, I don't anticipate you being delighted. And I'm being generous. Sound quality is one of the car's weakest elements.

Good luck with your imminent delivery. I'm sure you're going to love it!

Have you got a delivery date of 29/09/2012? If so your car is on the same boat as mine, @Sparkles, @Panman & @st162celica

Which would take our Sept arrival club to 5

i don't know what you guys listen to but the above EQ is far too bass heavy.

also i still don't understand the reason to fade to the back, particularly when the rear speakers are rubbish......

each to their own i guess.

Disconnect the rears.. forget about even replacing them, rear speakers are pointless unless you are in a house watching a movie in 5.1.

music is recorderd in Stereo (or 2.1) 99.9% of the time.

Good set of splits, nice sub.. all you need.

I have been talking to my installer today about mine, he is more excited than me about getting this car haha.

We are putting in it.
CDT Splits
Resonate Engineering SL10 sub
Alpine 7998r headunit
Audison Voice 5 channel amp

Nice and basic, not too heavy and will blow majority of the stereo's out there out of the water for quality.

+1

Only reason you would have rear speakers is for the passengers or if you like the sound of stereo imagining. How many passengers are you guys planning to have in the back? =P

IMO, you are right that it's too bass heavy if longitudinal balance left at R0. At R4, though, no. At R2, listener preference.

I was perplexed by this too, but explained in the source link.

All of this is just a stop-gap, of course.
