Scion FR-S Correction and Opti Guard - TLC Auto Detail

Hi everyone. Today we've got a brand new black Scion FR-S that was scheduled for a paint correction detail and to have Opti-Guard applied.

As normal we started with the wheels, tires, and wheel wells. The wheels were cleaned with Iron X and various brushes, while the wheel wells and tires were cleaned with Optimum Power Clean. One the wheels were cleaned they were wiped down with Car Pro Eraser to make sure they were perfectly clean before the Opti Guard was applied. Finally the tires and wheel wells were dressed with Meguiars Hyper Dressing.

Before:

After:

Next up was getting the paint and rest of the exterior cleaned up so we can see the true condition of the paint. To start we foamed the vehicle with a mix of Hyperwash and APC to help loosen are remove as much loose dirt and debris as possible before we put and sort of wash media on the paint.

While the foam dwelled we agitated the trim, body seams, fuel filler area, and emblems with a soft brush to break up and build up of dirt and grime.

After rinsing the foam off, the vehicle was wash with Meguiars Hyper wash, the dried with the Masterblaster. This vehicle was brand new and didn't have much contamination on the paint at all. We lightly sport clayed the rear of the vehicle and some lower panels to remove the light contamination.

now that the paint was totally striped and cleaned so we can see the true condition. Unfortunately it was overcast today, so I had to use my shop lights and hand held LEDs to see the swirls.

As you can see the swirls we very fine, and there are not many of them. Honestly the dealership didn't do a terrible job with this car, it is in much better shape than other new cars I have worked on recently. That said, it still did need to be corrected before the Opti Guard was applied.

The paint on this vehicle was medium I would say. Not overly hard, as it corrected fairly easily, but not so soft that it was easy to mar. It was actually a joy to work on even though it is black.

To correct the paint a two step apraoch was taken on the hood, roof, and trunk, while a one step correction was sufficient for the vertical panels. The two steps consited of Meguiars D300 on MF cutting pads followed by M205 on a green Uber pad. For the one step areas, Menzerna Powerfinish was used on a Tangerin Hydrotech pad. The G110 machine was used for all the correction.

Here is how the paint turned out.

After the correction was complete, the vehicle was rewashed to remove the polishing dust, and then Car Pro Eraser was used to wipe down all the painted surfaces to prepare them for the Opti Guard. Opti Guard was applied to the paint, trim, wheels, and glass. Here is how the vehicle turned out.

That about does it. I really do like the look of the new FR-S/BRZ, and I enjoyed working on this vehicle. I was very happy with the outcome, and look forward to your feedback! Thanks!

Thanks, I'm sure someone in your area does it. Check out Rasky's Auto Detail. I'm pretty sure they are in MN, and I know he does amazing work!

Thanks! And yes, they are a cream, almost white color. Very nice, but they are going to be a bear to keep clean.

IMO its rude to the owner to discuss pricing in the open. If you would like to know you can pm him or myself for a quote on your vehicle. Thanks.
