Jamming Key?

Hello, My friend who's got an FR-S told me he for several times couldn't remove the key after the car was switched off. He thinks he shifts to park and did push the key in and turns before trying to remove it. But he couldn't repeat the problem when we met.

Just wondering if anyone has similar experience?

I have had similar instances myself. Couldn't really explain when it happened because it was pretty random, and was a CND (could not duplicate) after the fact.

My key was hard to get in the ignition and the salesman told me that it would get easier as the sharp edges on the key would get softer from repeated insertions. It can also be hard to get out at times as well.

I think it's wheel lock - I had exactly the same situation. When I turned the steering wheel to reposition the wheels, I was able to remove the key.

Happens to many cars...like said above; most likely the wheel lock. Just turn the wheel a little bit to either side and the key then should be able to turn back to the off position and release.

was the steering wheel locked? if so it may cause the key hard to turn in the igniton. try turning the steering wheel while turining the ignition and see if it helps if not then the ignition lock cylinder may be faulty

this happens to me esp when other people drive it. its almost like your have to slightly push in and turn the key at the same time all in one swift motion.

Never though about that. I thought the lock only prevents you from turning the key on after you insert the key. In my friend's case, the car wants to be driven and doesn't want to release the key. I'll let my friend try anyway.
