Front speaker sizes and how to add amp to factory headunit on FR-S

So I'm getting an FR-S and I like how the stock stereo system works as far as BT/USB/etc.

I'm looking to add a good set of front speakers and a sub (probably the flushmount box that is on here from a vender for a 10in sub) so I was thinking of a 4 channel amp with 2 chan to the speakers and 2 bridged to the sub.

I'd like to know what size front speakers to buy and the easiest way to add in an amp to the factory headunit.

Thanks

6.5" speakers with an adapter to mount them. Dash speakers are 3.5" and can be replaced with...well...3.5" speakers.

Add an amp with a line output converter to pick up signal, or use the RCA aout on the back of the OEM HU, if your model is equipped with them.

3.5" speakers don't quite fit correctly in the front.

See this for more info:

With a little massaging, you can fit the 4" Kappa (I BELIEVE) coaxial in the dash. I don't know about the Reference. The install that I saw was a Kappa 4" coax.

Odd the 3.5" install I saw needed massaging (washers and bolts to make fill a gap)

Hmm...

Hmm...
It really depends on the speaker basket size. I saw on another forum that there was a 4" Kappa install in the dash and rear location. I have also seen several 3.5" installs that required washers to fit the basket. It all varies with the angle of the basket relative to the mounting locations. The more shallow the basket the more likely it is that a 4" will fit. A deep, wide basket (like many "premium" brand speakers) typically is more difficult to fit than a more traditional off-the-shelf brand.

Case in point: a Hertz 3.5" coax that I saw in a thread here has nearly the same basket dimentions as a Kappa 4" coaxial. Thus, they fit similarly in the OEM location but are different "sized" speakers.
