The New Tanabe Exhaust- Inputs and Thoughts

Hey guys,

We want to get a thread out there to get some insight on what FR-S and BRZ users think of the Tanabe systems. As many enthusiasts know, especially those that have been in this car modifying life style for many years, Tanabe is one "Exotics" of the industry. Backed with years of superior R&D and quality that is way above industry standards, users that have gone Tanabe seem to always stay Tanabe.

Tanabe has recently released a new range of products. This ranges from the new Catback and Downpipe, to their high performance coilovers and chasis bars.

We want to hear what you guys think. We know Tanabe is a pricey company when compared to others but that price reflects the return. We do have some of these items in stock currently so we would like to also offer any "adventurous owners" the chance to try this product at a highly discounted cost in exchange for an actual write up, photos and a 100% money back guarantee if desired. This is not a FS thread, but rather an open discussion on the product.

There is no question about gains. Your looking at an easy 20 hp gains. I have the dyno sheets for this. I will find them a put them up.

Yeah it's been shown the tunes can add way more horsepower than a catback... You would have to show results with with just the tune, and then the tune+catback.

Maybe I should have been more specific and used whp instead of hp because we are going the wrong way with this.

I hate to argue here but whp and hp makes no difference. You can claim 50hp and only actually see a 20whp gain and no real way to argue the claim without an engine dynometer. In theory, you add +20hp it's going to translate loosely to ~+15.5whp with drivetrain loss. There is some loss, but it should be linear on an NA car. So what you are actually saying is that it's 20whp so then it's more like ~26hp gains. I'd be skeptical of that for sure.

I would also argue like everyone else. You need to provide stock + exhaust and tune + exhaust dynographs to be concise with your claim.
