Cquartz "semi permanent" protection /FR-S
Why:
So I knew with all the track work this car would see, and the lots of development opportunities she would have... she still needed to look good with minimal work and survive the rigors of it all. Where: Only one shop earns my business, Oakes Detail. To be brief, Nick Oakes is a younger guy who has already earned his stripes as a consummate, and respected professional in the pro detailing world. For example, he is one of only two to have been chosen to test the latest version of this ceramic coating in the USA ( a new product that will be available soon) because he has perfected the application process. Regularly doing complete car collections for customers that can range in the millions of dollars, he got his humble start as (and still is) a Subaru enthusiast. What product / service we chose: For now, I wanted protection that would far outlast wax, and something that Nick trusted. I asked about a lot of the "semi permanent" paint protection out there and his feeling reflected my research; Cquartz was the choice to make. Now, we could have reaped even more benefits from this process had the car been a little aged. This service comes with a full "paint correction" as they say in the detail world, to make your paint free from all clear coat defects and small scratches (that do not go below the surface). It's literally restored to excellent condition if the finish is already showing wear and then this finish is sealed in the Cquartz. Our car is new, and already looked great... Cquartz was applied to all surfaces that are painted, and not the glass (as nick noted that cleaners can streak on glass that had been treated, he had an answer for every question I had!) To wash or not to wash? Stickers? I purposely asked my dealer not to wash the car or remove the paint protection. I even left it on for more than a week (with no ill effects) before it got to Oakes Detail. There is our sales guy getting me our first fill-up free. Its hard to see the paint protection stickers on the white color car, but they are all on. ![]() ![]() Video: I told Nick that since I see a lot of people asking about this product on a lot of forums, he should make a video... well here it is. Its not very technical, but should give you a good feel if Cquartz is something that fits your needs.
...Still trying to figure out why |

Sweet! Oakes is the man. Pretty soon I have a member here scheduled for Cquartz Finest, and I'm already excited. These new coatings really raise the bar from a protection standpoint.

Its very good. Tire gum (the horrid stuff after a track day from hot tires right in front of you) comes right off with bug and tare remover in two swipes.
So far, I'm very happy. I like how little effort is needed during a wash, dirt just releases so quickly and easily.

Oakes is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from me.
May have to drop 700 bucks on this.
