Come on product developers MAKE A REPLACEMENT DASH TRIM FOR AFTERMARKET HU!!!!!!
I am sure with all the vendors and product developers on this site somebody can make a replacement dash panel to fit an aftermarket HU without the stupid mounting kit to fill the gaps. If I had the resources this would already be done and for sale on the site. The vendors are missing out on a lot of possible cash not having done this. Cause the first thing most FR-S owners want is a new HU, cause the stock has ALOT of options lacking. Do y'all agree? This would be a good idea. I have thought of doing this with some modification to the panel and then a vinyl wrap to cover the changes.

I don't mind the fillers that much. I'd spend $30 for an oem-like replacement in an instant. For $50, I'd probably get it after some deliberation and depriortization to other spending like dinner with the wife. I would expect it to be priced around there. For anything above $50, I'm happy with my fillers.
The problem is that with the frs/brz, there's only 6000 cars so far. Of them, maybe 50-100 would get sold immediately, then maybe 500ish might get sold over the next year. So r and d, product fitment and the effort that goes into a product that demands high quality workmanship at a low margin price isn't really worth it. That's why we've got intakes and exhausts which are just cheap pieces of metal (e.g. 5-20) for 300 to thousands, as the margin makes up for the low volume. Many have made intakes out of plumbing from home depot for 20 bucks... |

edit- I think you were talking about trim pieces, not cars... ![]() Anyways... The car hasn't been on the market but for a few months so far. EVERY aftermarket company is either already working on products for it, or have plans to. Many haven't even had an opportunity to get their hands on the car yet, so they're stuck in limbo. We (as owners) have tunnel vision, we think "OMG a vendor is missing out, I can't believe no one has made a (fill in the blank) part for this car yet!!!" and scratch our heads in frustration. Look at it from their perspective- they have tons of new cars being released all the time, existing product to support/revise, and they have to pick and choose where their engineering resources go. Give it some time, more unique products will emerge. An entire replacement dash panel might take a while, but maybe some other cool ideas would pop up. Like a trim kit that fits like a bezel over the entire hole to cover it, instead of just a plastic plug to fill in the edges. |

http://www.carid.com/2013-scion-fr-s...bi-962434.html Looks pretty nice to me. They have several different types for the fr-s too. Sorry if this has been posted already. |

I would think with all the easy access to CAD and Rapid Prototyping systems that someone would do this. Or even resin cast versions.
I wouldn't expect to see anyone do injection molded tooling. -J

They have a few carbon fiber-looking packages as well in different colors and such, but the wood grain is the only pic I could find already installed in a FR-S. Strangely I thought the yellow carbon fiber stuff looked best even though I am not usually a fan of yellow. Something like this would go well with some katskin leather seats. I ordered the Katskin sample book I'm just waiting for it to arrive.
