set up os giken lsd, “tuning”

Looking to do the initial spring/plate setup on an os giken lsd.
1.5 way road race and street. 6 speed, 330 rwhp supercharged, 255/40r17 200tw

To preface, looking for recommendation on initial setup not “send it to a shop.”

Thanks

Lugod isn't at OSG anymore; he has his own place now.

https://shaftworksusa.com/

That said, the folks who tune LSDs do it for a living; don't expect them to just give you their knowledge for free. If you are still waiting for your LSD to arrive, have whoever you ordered it from configure it for you. If you've already purchased it, then literally, "send it to a shop" as you put it.

It's like asking a (ecu) tuner "looking for recommendation on [tune] setup, not 'send it to a [tuner]' "

If you're truly not sure, use it in OTS spec, gather data, and then adjust based on your data.

Are the diffs tuned based on the intended use case and the wheel/tire sizes ?

I think my worry is possibly boxing myself in by say “Mostly Autox and street driving on 225s” then I end up doing more track and move up to 255s, possibly on coilovers (not sure if the suspension factors in here as well)

use case first, followed by compound and aero, then power. Size is not as big of a consideration.

For what you posted, one spec can cover both.

I knew he was working on getting the Shaftworks thing going, but I hadn't realized he'd left OSG. That is really great for him.

The $150 refresh / tune was a steal of a deal.

As echo'd previously, there really is only 1 person who is the right answer for this.

And it's send it to Lugod

My $0.02, unless you're drifting, go for the lightest initial breakaway torque (or *highest* "negative preload" for OSG) they'll give you for your usage and application. Let the ramps do most of the lockup. IMO the biggest mistake people make in speccing out an LSD setup is thinking they want maximum initial lockup. Minimal initial lockup will be nicer on the street, will induce less understeer at the track, and will last a lot longer between rebuilds.

FWIW I had my OSG diff for 550hp FD set up this way, it was transparent in operation on the street, always put power down to both wheels at the track even full throttle cornering over curbing. Sweeet...
