Bent Slave Cylinder Rod

Hey guys, I bought a 2013 FRS a few months ago, and started having some clutch issues recently. Took it to a good local shop, and they found that my clutch fork was cracked, and my slave cylinder pushrod was bent due to increased stress from an aftermarket clutch. They advised that I should upgrade my clutch fork, slave, and master cylinders. The tech I was talking to had a similar issue with a WRX he had done a clutch on. I've been able to find several options as far as aftermarket clutch forks and master cylinders, but can't seem to find anything other than OEM or the Autozone special for the slave. Any advice would be very appreciated, thank you.

Other than using a bigger one from another car... I dunno about direct replacement. However, you could go to a full hydraulic unit which would delete your fork, throwout, and pivot. And replaces your slave with a hydraulic"donut". I believe the kit saw was a pretty steep 800$. But if you're bending slaves then it might be worth it. This style throwout/slave is standard on all LS engines

i don't think that hydraulic throwout bearing replacement is being made anymore. not enough interest.

For that cost I'm not surprised

the price really isn't that far out of line. knowing a few machinists, i consider it a very fair price for the machining and fab work required for what can never be a product that is produced in any meaningful volume.

i was interested in it for a while, just didn't work out for the timing of having funds available.

It may be a fair price on the manufacturing side, but that doesn't make it a good value for the customer. It doesn't do much that the stock system doesn't, but costs a great deal. If I had one to reverse engineer, I could make one for you

Cracked forks, broken pivots happen, but I've never heard of a push rod bending. What kind of "heavy duty" clutch is in the car? Are you boosted? If n/a, a stock clutch is all you need. Versus forks and pivots are good up grades. Stock master and slave should work fine with almost any clutch.

I suspect when the fork bent, it forced the slave to operate at an angle, bending it too

I agree the bent push rod is a result not a cause. Go get a Subaru/Toyota one then replace the fork and pivot with a Verus version. You will be good from there.

Sounds like a bad install job. The slave cylinder is only driving hydraulic fluid from the master cylinder. Luckily, slave (assistant) cylinders are real cheap and easy to change out yourself. As far as the clutch fork, you can just change it out with a new stock one and get a lot of mileage out of it, or use the aftermarket ones. Also change out your pivot point and your TOB to be safe. Good luck!
