22+ CF Strut Braces

Curious, how people feel about strut braces. Stock version is steel and does the job, but does anyone have an opinion on something like this...

Stock

KBM

I am not a gen 2 owner, but if I was I would be curious what the weight savings would be between the two as well as how much stiffer it is than the stock part (if it is).

I've seen strut braces from the gen1 fit gen 2 - so these may fit. Looks good KBM!

Is it lighter than stock?

Mounts look 3D printed, what would be the production material used for the mounts? How would the CF tube be bonded to the mounts? Will there be any stress points where the CF tube enters the mount? If so, how do you plan to address it?

It does looks good.

When you're holding one of each in your hands, the CF version is definitely lighter, but it's not like the OEM one weighs 20 pounds so there's not a lot to save. If I were to guess, OEM is 2 pounds each, KBM CF is 1 pound each. I'll get them on a scale at some point.

That's a lot of questions, lol...

There are a few different techniques for putting the bonding agent into tension and not shear, and we will be using one of the

Of course, we'll test before release. Our local auto-x space is super old, lump and has a good number of patches and additions for putting these through the paces.

Besides weight savings are there any other advantages over the OEM bars, like additional stiffness?

There should be based on the difference in the physical properties, but in a practical sense, you'd have no way to measure that change.

They do have points for good looks

Count me in! I just took delivery of the carbon TRD strut bar (gen 1 but fits gen 2, so does all other strut bars as far as i know).

So your carbon one matches this perfectly!!!

I like the STI bars compared to the stock bars. Got mine through Subaru N.A. so not as expensive as the JDM ones, but the same.
