Oil Pan Fail

Hello,

This happened about 5-6 years ago but I was too embarrassed to post about it then.

I had to jack up the engine to install the Nameless overpipe/front pipe combo exhaust piece but didn't use a block of wood. As you can guess this dented the pan.

Since this fail I've put about 100k miles on the car including 18 track days.

At this point am I in the clear? Should I take this is a lesson for the future or do you think I should replace the entire pan?

Thanks all,
Steve

My only concern is that the pickup is very close to the bottom of the pan. So depending on where you bent it it could really tighten the gap. May not be a problem since you have run it so much already but

I would imagine it all depends. Is there any chance that it could have messed with the pick up tube?

How big is the dent? The size of a dime in one or two spots who gives a fuck, the size of your fist, I'd replace that.

If it's anywhere near the oil pick up point I'd use this as an opportunity (aka excuse) to replace the pan and get an oil baffle from the manufacturer of your choice...maybe replace the pick up tube too.

I would think that after 6 years, 100K miles and 18 track days that it is probably the last thing you need to worry about at this point.

It's always hard getting proper photos of dents to show their depth but here is what I just got:

I'm not sure where the pickup tube is relative to the bottom of the pan but this is my main concern.

I'm not so much worried about damaging the pickup tube but rather blocking it's flow from the bottom.

It is somewhere between a dime and my fist lol. See the pictures for a better idea but it doesn't seem too deep of a dent.

Ohh new car parts...now we're talking. Absolutely will look into that if the pan needs to come off.

This was my logic but it's nice to hear someone say it lol. I just fear this is a ticking time bomb situation, but is it really a ticking time bomb if it takes decades to go off?

if you ran it without the skidplate i'd call that an aero device and protest you lol, looks pretty mild to me, others may disagree.

The end of the pickup tube is behind that hump, in that area just left of the drain plug. Perfectly safe. Don't fuck with it.

There's room. I wouldn't sweat it until the pan needs a reseal. Even at that, I'd just take a block of wood and hammer and pop it back down. I've seen them in far worse shape than what you've got.
