Underground Parking on Campus worth it?
Should I dish out the 1k for 8 months of underground parking on campus?
All the the open lots are sold out (which is about 780$) and my next option is to use the Pay and Park. What do you guys think? Some guys have scared me with thoughts of a hail storm damaging the car and causing little bumps all over the hood. And then JUST today I saw a lady with bumps all over the hood and wondered if it was a hail storm that caused that =/ Let me know what you guys think Oh, I can also just get the underground parking for the months Jan - April which is 500$ and use pay and park from Sept to Dec |

Holy crap! What school do you go to? I go to USC and parking isn't THAT expensive. It's like 350 for the semester. Anyway, if cost isn't the deciding factor and taking care of your car is priority, I would do it. It won't get as much sun damage, hail won't be a cause for concern (since you mentioned hail) and since it's an enclosed structure, it will be more secure than an open parking lot.

I love my FR-S, but I don't think the 1k for the parking is worth it. On my campus I simply park a couple blocks away next to a coffee shop and walk. Of course I don't worry about hail the size of baseballs. Not sure if that was a one time thing or if you guys plan to get more storms like that up there.

I would definitely go for the underground parking. It protects your car better and you'll have a spot to park. $1000 is really expensive though. When I was in school (which was 2 years ago) a parking pass was 50$ and good for a year. However that didn't guarantee that you would have a place to park. If you love your car it's worth it for the protection.

Yeah,
1,200-1,400/ 1 school year for covered parking @ York University. About $15 for a full day at some lots, the most expensive one is $20/day near our food court mall @ York University. Outside parking is about $700-800/1 school year. EDIT: We have "Townhouses" near by the school, 10-15 min walk from campus, about $50/mo for a garaged spot. Cheaper and better, just more of a walk. Up to you really.

Thank god for public transportation, it was something like 80 bucks for a semester for unlimited access to public transit.
But no matter where, no matter when, thieves and scumb bags will be what they are, they mess your car anyways. One of my old cars (1990 celica) had a 17" keymark across the door in a "secured" underground aparment parking lot with gates. Seriously, how lowlife can you get? The car was 15 years old at the time, it was completely stock and didn't even have a spoiler. $1,000 towards parking isn't insurance of any kind; it's false reassurance. At least if you leave it at home and hail hits, your insurance will cover it if you paid the premiums for that kind of coverage. |

To add to this; you'll still be exposed to chances of frozen golfballs once you leave the lot unless you want to park it there like a garage queen.

Park it underground and get a cover to keep it away from prying eyes. There are people in Boston who park their cars by the month in Boston Common parking garage that keep their cars under covers.

lol i know, it was a joke. im pretty sure no one wants to take time to put up a car tent everyday, especially if youre running late to class.

How often are you on campus? If you're there every day, then it might be worth it, but if you're there only a few days out of the week, just use pay and park.
