Grrr... frickin low lifes

Today started out fun... was headed out to get some grub and realized that someone broke into my wife's car and got the Glock that I left in there yesterday.

Good news is it gave me reason to do a little shopping.

Oh boy, hopefully this doesn't degenerate into a crazy anti/gun-control flame-fest...

hopefully the stolen gun isn't used to commit some crime that you'd be linked to...

Eh, not worried about the gun control peeps... they'll be the first to go when the zombies come.

I filed a report immediately so I'm in the clear if it gets used for some nefarious purpose. The cop took prints and told me I'll probably get it back at some point, either it would be pawned or used in a crime (great... ).

Gun control doesn't mean no guns. It means that in places like Canada, you would be criminally negligent for leaving a firearm unsecured in a car. They let us have them, just recognize that people sometimes need to be reminded to be responsible with them (consequences for not being responsible are fines, and/or confiscation).

On a non-lecturing note, would you take it back if it was used in a crime? (Bad mojo.) Or just sell it and get a new one?

Dang. I hope they catch that guy. Crime has been increasing a lot lately due to shitty economy. :/

One of the many times I think capitol punishment should still be used. Steal? Cut your hand off. Rape? Castration. Running fugitive? Chop half of the foot. And the only medical care you get after that is bandage wrap.

Really if someone wants what you have bad enough they will find a way to get it. Its no different than someone breaking into your home imo. If they stole a kitchen knife are you responsible if they stab someone? If someone steals your car and runs someone else over, are you negligent for vehicular homicide? I'd say locked with an alarm is just about as secured as could be expected. Its not my preference to leave it in the car and not the norm for me. It's also abnormal for her car to be left in the driveway too, but its Summer and half of the garage is full of stuff from her classroom until she moves to her new school. Blaming people that aren't doing anything illegal or without any criminal intent is a stupid and short-sighted way to apply "control" to anything... but I digress.

If I get it back, I'm not sure. Guns, as with many things, are great once dialed in, which this one was. It was also extremely reliable, never misfiring once. I picked up a Kimber Eclipse Ultra II today as my new conceal carry so I'm leaving my options open on the Glock. I guess it will depend on the circumstances and condition. If anything it will be relegated to a back-up.

Giccin, I'm with you. I only wish I was awake when it went down.

It was more an example of what Canadian gun-control is. A lot of Americans seem to think 'gun-control' = 'no guns'. Not the case. They just control them in the way that tries to reduce people being careless with them. Our long-gun laws are sometimes less restrictive than the rather ridiculous ones in California, if you look at 'features' on semi-automatic rifles.

What does a new 4th gen. Glock 17 or 22 cost in the US? Here they are about $750 Canadian.

i think it should be weapon control ....anything can be used as a weapon yes, but when a weapon is designed and built to be a weapon. I think there should be some sort of control to weed out that carelessness people tend to have.

Swords, bow and arrows, guns, combat knife.

like just today...i broke into this guys car and a found a glock in it...what a silly careless owner.

Haha
But seriously I hope they are found before anything happens. Last thing you want is them coming back..

Yeah I'm always amused that most people can walk out with a semi-auto MP-5 or AK-47 the day they buy it, but there's a waiting period for handguns. Granted, handguns are easier to conceal, but with a rifle you can so do much more damage in a very short period of time with much greater accuracy. I'm all for gun rights but I think there should be a wait on any mechanized weapons, unless you have the proper permits.

Cali is just... silly. All those rules and their state is still so f-ed up. It just goes to show how ineffective those controls would be at the national level. Many politicians seem to forget, law-abiding citizens follow the rules... criminals could care less.

The 17/22 here retails for around the same price but you can get them for $500 or so if you find a decent dealer or at a gun show. Mine was a Glock 26 and it also was $500 new. I'm kind of glad to be carrying a 45 again... never really sold on the 9mm for self defense. But with the mag capacity and dead-on accuracy of the 26, it was a decent option.

True and you never know. I hope they realize that by managing to find 1 outside that there are many more inside.

All kidding aside though I hope they don't hurt an innocent person with it.

Damn I'd be pissed if someone stole my Glock. I have a Gen 3 Glock 27, same as yours but in .40SW, that I picked up new for $450 at a local mom and pop gun store. With a Concealed Carry permit there was no BS 5 day waiting period just fill out the paperwork, pay, and go.

I love this thing, over 1000 rounds through it and it has been dead reliable no failure to feeds/ejects or anything. If your looking to get back into Glocks but want a little more stopping power than the 9mm and a 9+1 capacity, then I highly suggest the G27.
