vin61k - 2013 Toyobaru FR-Z

Background

I originally owned an automatic FR-S in October of 2020 and realized I truly wanted a manual. Since it was an automatic, I didn't bother modding it because I didn't feel like it was worth modding a car I didn't enjoy.

Because of the COVID + summer pricing surge, I managed to break even on the car and sold it in June 2021. After about a month of searching I found an amazing deal for another FR-S and went on a five-hour road trip to get it. I got it for $10k CAD (8k USD) with 105k km (~65k miles) on the clock. Second owner, no accidents, and had wheels/header/OFT/exhaust.

Now, I'm doing what I originally wanted to my first FR-S to this new one. The plan is to build a track daily car and casually take it to TMP, Mosport, Grand Bend, and PITL AutoX events.

Update (January 2023): Moving to the US and unfortunately the car has to go. This is how the car sat before I parted out.

Dropped the car a couple days ago and here's what it looks like before alignment.

I wanted to drop it a tad lower on the rear but my Teins ended up being seized already... Paying the shop to fix that for me lol.

Still waiting on my Vland headlights to come in so I can finally throw the BRZ bumper on.

Had my alignment and UEL headers done on Monday and just did my Vlands on Wednesday.

Thoughts:
- Despite only being dropped a mild amount my GReddy exhaust hangs WAY too low now. I had four people in the car the other day and scraped the midpipe flange every bump... Either going to never put four people in my car again or switch to a different catback.
- UEL header feels so much better on the highway, I actually have power in 6th gear now so I don't have to downshift to fifth any more lol. Unlocking the boxer rumble is also very nice
- The light output of the HIDs vs. the OEM FR-S headlights is night and day. This was probably one of the best mods I've done to the car, since I can actually see at night now lol. The Vlands are also a HUGE upgrade aesthetically.

BRZ bumper and gram lights will be on soon.

New wheels and BRZ bumper are on... I'm so happy with how my car looks now

Gonna try roll with the silver/blue look. Will eventually be ordering the blue Rays center caps for the 57CRs.

Went to the track for the first time, here's some clips. Fastest timeable lap I did was 1:33:06, could definitely pull <= 1:30 if I pushed it harder in the few corners.

My 57CR's also got completely diffed. Time to get a set of TE's :p

I would get some lighter wheels and 17's for track use. Also get some SX2's if they are available in your area. Really good learning tire

I would get some 17x8's or 17x9's for track use. But be careful it gets addicting

Moving to the US and have to let the car go. Here are the last couple photos of the car in its (mostly) final form.

Looking to move to an S2K or something in the future.
