Oil smoke plume at startup following autocross - one time event

I did an autocross yesterday in my 2013 FRS and after the morning heats, the car was parked for two hours. I started it up, and had a rather large plume of oil smoke. Never had that before and was somewhat concerned. It burned off and the car seems to be completely fine. Car is routinely tracked and autocrossed and this has never occurred before.

One of my competitors in a 2013 FRS came up to me and said he had exactly the same thing occur to him. Again, out of nowhere, a large plume of smoke after the car sat, and never had occurred before. Both of these cars are SSC builds, and there were two other SSC cars (a 2013 and a 2015) and an STX build there as well. It was a cool day (upper 50's) not a particularly grippy surface, but I wonder if oil settled somewhere where it could leak by valve guide seals or something similar.

None of the other 3 Twins at the event had this occur. Both of the cars where this occurred were 2013's, one has had the recall and one had not. The only apparent trait common to these two cars and different from the other is that they are white, and the others were blue or asphalt.

Anyone ever see something like this before? Thanks in advance.

I've had this happen a handful of times in the canyons. After some hard driving and parking my car 0.5-1hr, I'll start up my car and my friend will mention that he saw a moderate size cloud of smoke on startup. I noticed it happens more often when I park on an incline. Never had it happen on track.

I'm not too concerned about it, but I keep an eye on my oil levels. I tend to lose about 1/6 to 1/4 quart per track day.

My 2013 FRS will occasionally smoke on start up. Seems to happen randomly.

I reckon the automatic choke just got stuck for a moment. You may wish to remove the air cleaner and squirt some kerosene on the choke butterfly, so it won't stick.

Wait one ........ WHERE AM I?

Sorry -

Back in the day, if a car bellowed black/blue smoke at startup and ran rough there was a good chance the automatic choke was stuck closed, making the air/fuel ratio quite rich.

What's that got to do with today's cars?

Nothing - ol humfrz was jest seeing if anyone was payen attention -

OK - OK, I'll go take a nap -
