Just recently bought a Pioneer DMH-2660Nex and just was wondering everything I need in order to keep all factory controls. According to crutchfield I would need to purchase an iDatalink Maestro RR, but is there any other way? Any help would be appreciated.

When I swapped the headunit in my FA5, I was actually glad the Maestro exists. It's super easy to install and helps bridge that gap for things like steering controls without having to dig through and splice a bunch of wires. Is there a reason you don't want to grab one?

Same here. The Mastro made it very easy to retain the steering wheel controls in my '04 Suburban when I installed a Pioneer headunit in it about 3 years ago.

No reason, just wanted to know if there was any cheaper option out there, but if there's not I wouldn't mind grabbing the Maestro RR to slap in there. Was it a pretty easy install? I plan on getting the wiring harness to connect my backup camera to the head unit as well and I'm curious as to if that's going to work differently with the Maestro.

Super easy install. The only thing I didn't like was the need to plug into OBD for the backup camera to work in [a] manual [car] BUT I ended up just hard wiring the two wires in for that. Easy peasy and freed up my OBD port.

Perfect, really the only thing that bothers me about the install is the harness for the backup camera, I'm pretty sure it's going to distort the image since it'll go from like a 2.5" display to almost a 7" display, do you think it would be easier to just purchase a different backup camera and run that like a normal camera to the radio?

So, maybe I missed this, but do newer 86/BRZ have a standard 2-DIN radio in them rather than the older "toyota sized" radio?

2017 has the somewhat-odd 200mm nose piece.

I'm pretty sure it's about the same size, I know that a 2017 86 fit an Alpine ilx-107 which is a 2-din radio.
