STI Exhaust Part Number

It appears that there are two different part numbers for the STI Performance Exhaust:

ST44300AS020
ST44300AS010

Is anyone familiar with the differences? I'm guessing it's related to the model changes from 2016 to 2017.

ST44300AS020 was created to fit facelifted 2017+ models. The only difference should be midpipe to axleback connection angle and lenght.

So I would need the ST44300AS010 for my 2016?

Yes I agree. These ones have a dual structure with a tubular pre-silencer and main silencer arranged in parallel front to back. It is a quite unique design and build quality is similar to jewelry. I would say that they will come a classic and hard to find part. We won't see such a design again. New STI exhaust for the '22 cars will be just a plain silencer.

Keep an eye out on eBay. I got mine from a Subaru dealership advertising clearance stock. Once I saw the seller was in my local area I phoned them direct and he knocked $250 off. Advertised at AU $1300, got it for $1050 and the dealer fitted it for $100, so $1150 overall. Very happy with it, sounds and looks great IMO and not too OTT sound wise.

I’ve always assumed this part is pretty much cosmetic. It does state on the STI website:

“This high-performance muffler boasts low back pressure and an approximately 13% lower airflow resistance compared to the standard models.”

Does anyone know if there is an actual performance gain, if any? Just more out of curiosity. I have had the part for nearly 3 years now and haven’t noticed any performance improvements.

Most probably as with other catbacks, small if any, mostly done for sound. I see no reasons for miracle to happen and STI's being any different.
