New TPMS Sensors Not Communicating
Need to get new tires so I decided to get some TPMS sensors as well. The original sensors are in my OEM rims that I have since loaned out. I bought these sensors that, according to TPMS.com, were preprogrammed for my make and model.
Headed to America's Tire for installation. When the car was done the tech who installed them said he had trouble communicating with the sensors. I figured that, since the sensors were set up for my car, it would just be a matter of them "learning" to talk to the car. It's been 2 weeks and the TPMS light is still on. I e-mailed TPMS.com and they said their sensors are tested before they are shipped out so they shifted blame to the tire company. My question is: what should I do next? Is there a way to reset the TPMS system on the car to "relearn" the sensors? Do I have to go back to the tire store to have them try again? Thanks. |

He had trouble, but was he able to input the new TPMS ID's to the car? The car needs these to recognize the new sensors.

If you have the brand and what you brought , bring that with.
If you have the ID numbers written down or on same paper even better. Bring car back and ask for the most senior tech to use a Snap-on scan tool or equivalent to reprogram them. It normally takes less that 5min. HOWEVER, some require you to input the ID of each sensor first, and I believe Toyota may do this or it depends on what sensor you bought. It sucks for the tech if they need to pull ID numbers, cuz then they will have to basically do the entire job over(1hr)

You could buy a hack RF for $700 and do it yourself after a day or two of learning curve. Not the cheapest or quickest option, but all your friends would all be amazeballs.
