She's Here! But...

so my salesman emailed me today around noon to say my BRZ (ETA 8/6) came in today!!! I was very excited! Then I realized it was 5:45 PM, and they closed at 5:30 for the weekend...

so I freaked out. He never called me! Why wouldn't he after a few hours of me not responding!? He is very well aware of my excitement for the car, and I've been waiting since April 9...

So I drove past the dealer tonight, and she is there. Up on lifts until Monday. I'm glad she's inside at least.

Do I have a right to be upset? I would have LOVED to have driven it around all weekend with nothing to do rather than on Monday after work.

No. You probably wouldn't have been able to pick it up until Monday anyways.

Tomorrow you can go in and take care of the paperwork.

I got mine a Saturday. It's weird that a lot of people seem to not be able to get it when it arrives same day. Or weekends

I dont know if its this is true everywhere, but in Iowa dealers are closed on Sundays, so I won't be able to do anything until Monday. It'll be fine, just annoyed. But its my fault too for not checking email I guess.

I was able to get it on the same day, within 4 hours to be exact, if not for the traffic jam.

Hey ngabdala, you also got WRB? I thought you wanted gbs, anyway congrats to all of us :-)

Really? You feel you have a right to be upset? Please explain to us why you should be upset.

wouldnt you be upset if you found out that the car you've been waiting for since mid April was available to you, but the dealer never called to tell you this? I understand that I'm very lucky to even be in a position to get this great car, but that was still annoying. (Plus this is on top of some other issues). I guess I'm crazy.

BUT it's whatever. I'm fine, cause I just need to realize BRZ MONDAY!

They made an attempt to contact you via email. For whatever reason (personal reasons, no email access, whatever) you did not respond for 5hrs and 45 mins, or you did not know of the email until that amount of time elapsed.

I'm guessing that you got the email on Saturday. Saturdays are a very, very busy time for most dealerships since this is just about the only day that most people can make it out to a dealership in the morning (since they're most likely at work 9 - 5 from mon to fri). If I see a lot of idle salespeople on Saturday, the dealership is probably one to avoid.

The salesguy probably has many customers to take care of, or to keep track of. He has paperwork to do, test drives to supervise, deals to make, etc. Just because you had been anxiously awaiting delivery of the car since April does not mean that your salesguy or your dealership will know or remember this.

Bringing this issue up and attempting to put on a big show about it would not be in your best interest. You will look childish and petty, and you won't gain anything out of it except a sense of satisfaction. Now, if the car had come in and they had made no attempt to contact you for a couple of days, then you would have reason to be upset.

In any case, you're making too much out of the situation - just spend your Sunday bouncing off the walls, then - if you're still thinking about how they 'failed' to have called you - go in on Monday and politely mention that you got an email but did not get around to it until after the dealership closed. Then just as politely ask if they could have called you, and see what they say. Flipping out over it (ie. getting upset) would be uncalled for.

Yup you make some good points. No worries, I already said I was fine and just excited at this point!

Enjoy your BRZ then, and make sure you wash and wax it yourself when you bring it home. If possible, get a hold of them on Mon. and make sure they don't wash it. Soft cloth washes and brushes are the two biggest culprits when it comes to leaving swirls.

2nd that.

I know better and still somehow forgot to tell them "don't detail it please". Luckily they didn't hurt my car too bad.
