Brake pads to swap between for DD and Track Days
I am looking to get 2 sets of brake pads, one for DD and the other for Trackdays.
Tried searching the forum but could only find topics about pads for dual purpose. I have the AP racing sprint kit on the car, and have previously had DS2500 in it for dual purpose, however I found them completely unsuitable on the street due to how loud they are. I am a beginner with track days and am pretty light on the brakes, but I want to improve this coming season. I don't want to swap rotors each track day, just want to swap pads before the first session, so I was looking at trying to find 2 compounds that will work well on the same rotor. I have my eye on Hawk HPS 5.0 for street pads and DTC-30 for the track, as I can get these for a decent price locally. Does anyone know if these compounds are compatible and suitable for what I want? Also open to any other options, but I find it hard to find pads for the AP Racing kit in Australia. I will import if I have to, but the shipping charges are a killer. Thanks in advance |

I put my track pads in a week before and I always put the same pad in the same position in the caliper. I mark the street pads and the track pads LI, LO, RI and RO.
So whats wrong with DS2500 for track only as you did not say. |

I have the Essex AP Racing sprint kit.
I didn't have any performance issue with the DS2500 on track, however when asking the supplier for a less aggressive ferodo pad (for Street use) for these callipers I was told that there was not one available. I figure that if I am going for dedicated track pads it wouldn't hurt to go one step up from the DS2500 I still have DS2500 in the rear as they are working fine there, but I'll swap them out to match whatever I end up running in the fronts in the future |

I use Carbotech 1521 for street. Sprint kit fitted.
Carbotech has an office in Aus. https://carbotech.com.au/

I run Carbotech 1521's for street and XP10/XP8's for track setup. You can use the same rotor with both sets of pads

Another suggestion for using Carbotech. I’m switching between XP12 for track and AX6 for street/autocross duty. Frankly, I’d didn’t like the feel of Carbotechs I’d tried before this setup on the BRZ. No complaints regarding performance and ease of switching/swapping. Noise, however, would be an issue for most people.
AP BBK Sprints up front. OE rear calipers and rotors

My AX6 pads are essentially as noisy as the track pads on the street. Which is to say, consistently like a bus unless I’m using heavy peddle pressure. I feel like they were kinda sorta quiet with appropriate lube applied to the right spots when swapping, but that didn’t seem to work every time so I gave up trying after a couple noise inducing swaps.

It sounds like the Sprint kit is noisy in general on the street. I hope that's not the case because it's been on my radar for some time...

I have not found that to be the case.
