How to remove the fuel door?

I’m adding a new fuel door for some cosmetic flair but I can’t figure out how to remove the OEM fuel door. It looks like it’s riveted on. Has anyone here removed the fuel door before and know what size drill to use on the rivets?

If it's cosmetic flair that you after, just break the OEM cover and then fix it backup using mosaic tiles and glass.. you'll get lots of flair for sure..

I wish you would’ve told me that before I dropped money on a replacement! Maybe I can mix some bedazzle with the mosaic.

I removed mine recently. I brought it in for paint matching. Yes those are rivets, I drilled them out. No problem. AS far as size,, you just want to drill out the head of the rivet then punch the rest out the back. You don't what to drill though the sheet metal. Try a bit about 2/3's the size of the head.

The problem is reattaching. I have a couple of rivet guns but couldn't get them in there not to mention I didn't have rivets as large as what's there. Ended up putting a riv-nut in there but had to rig the tool to extended it enough. Rivets are available via Toyota.
