Removing A-Pillar completely (green plastic retainer question)
I have a rattle from behind my passenger side A-pillar, I’d previously put weatherstripping on the bottom of it and it helped buy something behind it is causing the rattle. I tried to remove the plastic green retainer but couldn’t so I left it attached.
So I need to completely remove the a-pillar this time, remove that plastic green retainer. But I’m concerned about setting off the airbag (I’ll disconnect the battery for 30 mins first) and also not being able to get that green plastic retainer back in place. I found this post with was helpful https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54683 Has anyone ever removed the pillar before, any advice on how to deal with the green plastic retainer?

Why worry about the green leash? Just swing the a-pillar plastic around with it connected until you've fixed whatever your noise is. The leash is just to prevent you getting hit by the plastic if the curtain airbag goes off.
I've removed my a-pillar and put it back without undoing the green leash |

Agreed, and I was specifically doing this to apply foam filler to remove a rattle too.

I had to remove the panel completely to run my rd's power wire to the 12V socket. The green plastic retainer is a bitch to remove and replace. I used needle nose pliers to turn it 90 degrees. DO NOT remove it if you don't have to.
