First time drifting
I did some donuts and drifting for the first time in this car. Found a big open parking lot (with light poles unfortunately) but having a blast with it sliding around. I'm usually stuck on first gear though since the lot isn't too big - is it okay to drift in just first gear?
Anybody else trying this for the first time on this car also? |

Slower speeds is better for less experienced people - proper throttle control 1st gear should be good I think. I've only messed around a little just to get a feel of the slip but it wasnt enough room to be careless, so I'm still new to it as well. Just make sure you set the shift beep on and around 7k.

Haha yup, thats when I typically go into the parking lot if nobody is around. Too bad its right across the municipal center where the police station is located, but I'm usually pretty careful.

im trying to go out during rain and have some fun pulling the ebrake. But its my first car too and I'm hoping to get lured into the sport. And possibly pick up a beater to practice.

I have big BIG dreams of becoming a drifter. Whenever I play a racing video game, I shout, "DRIFTKING!" at the TV. I'm really not being sarcastic. I don't have my FR-S yet, but I pretend I'm driving it when I'm coming home from work and there's this curvy exit and I just imagine doing this amazing drift all the way around it. I think I'm too scared to try it in real life.

If you guys want to really try drifting in a safe environment please hit up a local event. You will be able to push it a lot harder on the track without the risk of damaging your sweet new ride.

Is DGTrials still around? Last time I checked it was pretty much regional and very local groups doing the drift events on this side of the country. |

first gear is it, you are doing it right, its hard to drift in 2nd sins car does not have much power. unless you taking a corner drifting then that is different. but on a parking lot you should stay in 1st.

I might give it a shot when I get mine if I find a big enough parking lot. Tires are covered in my lease too, so I don't have to worry about how much I burn off.
