ABQautoxer's BRZ log
Friday on the way home from work I got a call from my buddy who sell's Subaru that a guy who ordered a silver BRZ Limited was passing on it and I could get a crack at it. I checked it out and after haggling for two days over the trade took it home yesterday. Today I snapped off some pics:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The car replaced a Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track that I was hoping could be my daily driver and D Stock SCCA autocross car but after just 2 events I realized it would never be what I wanted for the latter. I've owned a couple Miatas, MR2s, as well as CRX and now a Boxster for smaller/nimble type cars and realize this should have been my first choice all along. On the street it's pretty impressive so I have high hopes for it once I get camber bolts, align it, upgrade the tires and front sway bar and see how we do. I'm current campaigning a 2012 WRX in RT/RTA for SCCA ProSolo and National events so the BRZ is really just for local events where the lot is too small to make it much fun in the turbo AWD cars.

Tinted with CTX 30% tint. This angle makes it look a bit dark than it is:
![]() This is by far the best tint I've had. In the past I always did 3M as I thought it was quality but the heat blocking just can't compare to this. Very happy. First tank was 28.2mpg in 65% city driving. Only about 330 miles on the car so far.

Forgot to update this. I setup the car for SCCA CS/RTR class with 225/45/17 Star specs, drop-in K&N, a Nameless muffler delete, and an alignment with crash bolts. The car was mildly competitive but still felt down on power. I finally dyno'd it a couple days ago and noticed that the car was lower on power, 151whp. So we pulled the battery ground and then did two more pulls that both netted 161whp. The car since feels much better on the street and the MPG reading is 3-4mpg lower than it was pre-battery pull so I'll see what the tank comes out to be in a few more days. However that closes the chapter on RTR for this car for now.
Enter STX. SCCA STX class allows you to do many common mods people do with street cars. So I called my buddy Sam at Stranoparts.com and got a head start on the class. KW Variant3 Coilovers, Whiteline C Com top hats for the front, Perrin Crank Pulley, Perrin resonated catback exhaust, and then a Motiv catless midpipe directly from them. By this time next week I should have all this installed, corner balanced the car, and aligned it. I already have a set of SSR Comps in 17x8 that weigh about 13lbs with 255/40/17 Star Specs taken off the WRX. The debut of the STX setup should happen on Nov 10th at a PCA event but I might get to shake it down a bit on Nov 3 during an FSAE school I'm helping to instruct. Pics with the wheels, before the other parts:

Thanks, that was extremely fast, literally in less than 1 hour from order I had a tracking number. Very impressive and hopefully a good match for the resonated Perrin.

KW3 Variant3 coilovers installed, corner balanced, aligned and about 30 street miles on them so far. I'm in love, if these perform autocrossing as well as I've been reading this is an ideal setup for me. Better ride quality on the street as all the sharp edges have been removed from bumps and its much flatter all around as expected.

Looks good, I told you that it would be better in STX trim
![]() The tune is getting better every time, plus now I have map switching, launch control, flat foot shift, blip down shift, and a better rev limit. Simmons
