What is the purpose of an aftermarket reverse lock out?
Is it functionally identical to the OEM one, but simply offers different aesthetics? |

The reverse lockout does the same thing as the stock lockout. This one is made up of aluminum so it's a little nicer, but yeah, really just Aesthetics.
