Take apart OEM Shift Knob

Posting this here because I didn't see it anywhere else. If you would like to wrap/paint your OEM shift knob, you can easily pry off the top cap with a screwdriver (you will need to glue it back in) and you can simply squeeze and pop off the lower silver ring in order to paint. I was able to wrap the top cap, had to paint the lower ring. Will provide photos tomorrow when paint cures.

Hmm this gives the idea of taking the o.e knob apart, and reverse engineering a weighted metal one. Then wrapping it in leather. Best of both worlds!

After taking my cap off a couple years ago, it never sat back in place correctly. Just so people understand why they will need to glue it..
