Restoring original leather finish

Hey everyone,

So I’ve got a 2017 Toyota 86 that I bought 2nd hand. The previous owner or dealership cleaned the inside with some sort of leather cleaner that left the steering wheel looking very glossy. I’m not the biggest fan of the look and would like to go back to the original finish which is more of a matte leather finish.

Does anybody know a way to restore the leather or basically remove all those leather cleaners to go back to the OEM look?

I have a ‘17 86 and my steering wheel is pretty glossy. I think that’s just how they are. Either that or it’s due to wear

You might be right. Just sucks it’s almost new tho which leads me to believe it could also be some sort of leather cleaner too, those usually leave behind a wet, glossy look. Just hope there is some sort of way to remove it

Here’s how it should look, notice the more matted finish

You could try cleaning it with a mr Clean magic eraser or get it re-wrapped in whatever you want for $350 by Sweidit.
