Thumbs up Phenryiv1's door spacer review

I got these spacers sent to me about a week ago a finally was able to sit down and write about them and load up a few pictures.

First let me say thanks to phenryiv1 for sending them to me I'm glad I could help with test fitting. When I first received them, I couldn't wait to rip open the package and get my grubby little hands on them. The pictures online really do no justice to the quality of these things. Just imagine a piece of mdf, only much lighter and to me stronger. They were cleaned up well also all holes and cuts were clean, no burrs or other bullshit that I had to mess with before installing them.

Overall I would have to rate these a 5/10 tho. Now that is until he does about 5 mins of tweeks to it for the next batch. The problem I ran into as you will see is that they dont totally cover the original hole perfectly. its about a 1/4" gap or so on the top. For now I have deadner between my door and the piece so its no problem.

The other problem is I think some new hardware should be shipped out with this even if you charge another 2-3$. The stock hardware is much too short and I think the plastic inserts are shit anyway. I ended up getting some 1.5" long bolts and securing them with washers and lock nuts on the backside. Its not going anyway and has a nice tight seal.

If these 2 items can be addressed I would easily rate it 10/10. It really is a nice set for a good price. It fit very well(pretending it is the next batch a lil taller) to my Milles, I did not have any issue with hitting the window nor with diameter.

I attempted to use the dash speaker pieces he included but between time and incompatibility it wasn't even worth taking pics of trial fitment. I included a shot of how I ended up doing my mids and tweets tho.

Also sorry in advance for my picture taking, I am pretty terrible at it.

I wish that you had provided me feedback and pictures BEFORE posting a full review. With your feedback I could have corrected the gap issue in no time.

Its not to bad mouth your product, its of them as is. Like I stated once you make the one small adjustment they will be perfect. Hell, even with the tiny discrepancy of being beta ones they fit better that 99% of spacers out there for other cars as well.

Sorry, not meaning to sound like I was bashing your review. Just that I could have fixed the issue for the other set that I sent out.

If you will send me your OEM speaker, I'll return it with a new pair of spacers cut (no cost) with the bottom edge relocated. I just need a real OEM speaker as a template. Cutting by measurement got me to 95% but I want them perfect...or at least 99.9%

Ouch tough crowd. Should've let him finish his prototype before throwing the products faults out to the community.

If anything it gave him a chance to show he cares about making it right. That's a good thing.

I guess, but honestly that would have upset me a lot, too. If I sent someone something that was beta/test, then I wouldn't expect a public review on it before I even heard back from the guy testing it for me.

Agreed. I was just looking on the bright side.

I would have communicated privately first.

Back from vacation....

I'll take you up on that, if the offer still stands. I have a wider material and a widened prototype, but I'd like to do more revisions with a real speaker in-hand, if you can send one my way. I have tried to buy several sets on here but the sales all fell through.l If I can borrow yours, I'll send you back the speaker and the revised spacers.

Do you guys remember what thread size the 3 screws are that hold the spacer to the door?

*Never mind the paperwork Phenryiv1 sends with the spacers already contains the screw specs.

For reference of others:

Six (6) #10 x 1.25” or 1.5” sheet metal screws (to attach the spacers to the doors)

Yeah, now you know why companies make people sign beta agreements.
