Scott's YoungLordMobile (Hot Lava)

To begin:

I picked up my FR-S on July, 30 2012. It is the manual and in hot lava color and it is everything I wanted it to be, and more! It is as bare bones as you can get, though the only dealer option I got was the clear coat which will be installed tomorrow (Friday 8/3/2012). As far as modifications go, I took off the front license plate thing, though it left some holes in my bumper; while mad about it, it's whatever. I plan on taking the exhaust tips off and potentially getting a K&N filter this weekend, though I kind of want to keep it stock. I may look into an intake if it makes good power, though I can wait on that.

As far as mileage goes, I'm at about 260 and I have averaged 31.6 mpg so far. While low, I hope to improve that as time goes on and the engine breaks in more. I also hope to get an oil change at 1,000 miles, even if it costs a bit more. I want to treat this car like the little creampuff it is. I will take more photos as time goes on, but here are two for now.

Attached is a picture of my old car that I've driven since I was 15. I ended up giving it to my cousins to lean how to drive. The car has 241,000 miles on it and still got 38mpg, what a true beast.

So I just went through my first tank, I went 359 miles and averaged 33.8mpg, not super good but I will work on it. I accidentally went a bit over 4k twice today, that was my bad. Though I think I only hit 4,500rpm.

Thanks man! I have have been working on hypermiling for the last 4 years or so, I guess it just takes practice and having a car with direct injection + low Cd + amazing at coasting makes it all the better.

Took off those pesky exhaust tips, they looked stupid and I feel like the gap between the outside and the real exhaust should have been painted black so they didn't look so crazy fake.

I went out for a 9 mile run in the open space and I took a couple of photos after my run. Overall (even after tearing around the mountains for 50 miles) I managed to bump the mileage up to 33.9mpg. It has been pretty easy to get high mileage in the car, especially with how well it coasts. My goal for this tank is 34 to 35mpg. I just crossed over 530 miles too, I wish the first 1000 would just come, I'm tried of staying below 4k rpm, I can feel the car just wake up right as I have to shift

I now have 719 miles on the car (almost through break in - can't wait to hit redline!!) and I averaged 35.3 mpg on my last tank. I drove 359.9 miles and used just over 10.1 gallons. So far I've been amazed with the car and how good of mileage it gets.

Serious question/PLEASE ANSWER: If you have installed a k&n or other brand of filter into the stock box did you notice much of a difference? I'm looking to get a bit more power and better mpgs, please answer if you have!

Alright, well first the important updates on my car. I'm near as makes no difference to 3,000 miles (so quickly!) and the car has been running great. My mileage keeps going up and the car has really broken in since the last update and it feels much more free.

Now the cool stuff: Yesterday I ordered the berk muffler delete and today I ordered the perrin drop in filter. This should give me +6hp gain overall and lighten the car by 25lbs. I have decided that my car will be a superleggera project, meaning I will try to get it as light as possible while still keeping the stock look. The next mods I will be getting will be a lightweight flywheel, carbon drive shaft, and 15.1lb rims. This should help to reduce the weight by some 75lbs over stock which is quite a bit.

Lastly, here are some pictures of my car when it was cleaned last weekend. I will update this once my parts arrive for my car, I'm so fucking excited!

Because it just looks better that way. I don't know why so many people notice this minor change.

I think it looks better with the scion, but that's just me. I think it's because the blue pops on a color like that.
