Has anyone had a removable steering wheel with controls, such as cartek or even a way to mount the ones on the stock steering wheel somewhere, that worked to control the dash and/or the audio? I’m mainly concerned with the dash screen obviously needing controls to change. This idea came along when helping a friend install a removable steering wheel on their car. Then realizing my car has buttons on the wheel unlike his.

Can it be done, yes. I have not seen anyone invest the time or effort into this yet. Better option if you are convinced you need a removable steering wheel would be to relocate the buttons to the dash.

someone local here has done it. he made a custom mounting plate out of carbon fiber that the buttons and cruise control stock mounts to. just saw it in passing but not up close.

I'd be interested to see how he retained all the wiring and tucked it nicely. but it definitely can be done.

i personally wanted to relocate it to the dash, beside the odometers, but will have to figure out how to separate the wiring harness from the clock spring.
