I don't think there is anything wrong with the steering that came with the car.

There is no "upgrade" just "look at my race car" mods.

I think the steering wheel is an underrated mod. Most people think it's just an aesthetic mod, but it really does enhance the driving feel and experience, much like a shift knob does. And it's the one part of the car that you're touching 100% of the time when you're driving after all.
I found the stock steering wheel slightly too skinny, so I upgraded to the DAMD wheel. The extra thickness and smaller diameter feels great, and it looks OEM. One of my favourite mods for sure.

I agree with NLSP. The wheel is your connection to the car and that connection with a better wheel enhances the experience. I was on the fence about upgrading and am extremely happy with the decision. That slightly thicker Alcantara feels great in the hand. Feels more like some of the other very high end cars I've driven. Every mod doesn't have to be about speed or exterior aesthetics. It's all about the overall experience of driving.

Like others have said if it’s a street car just pick anyone you like that retains the factory air bag. It’s all personal preference. That being said upgrading the shift boot, e-brake boot and steering wheel to real leather goes a long way towards making the interior feel less “cheap”. I had a prova D wheel which has a great ergonomic feel to it but I strongly regretted having an alcantera wheel after about 6 months. It’s just too difficult to keep a suede surface you’re constantly touching clean. My advice is don’t go suede unless you love driving gloves. The Prova D like most of the aftermarket wheels I found to be too thick. I prefer a leather wheel that’s just slightly smaller and thicker than oem. To me the overly thick wheels especially the carbon fiber ones look out of place in the 86 interior and create a clunky experience. I sold the prova D and bought a 86speedfactory all leather wheel mostly because of the price but I’m happy with it. To me it’s not too thick, not too small and it seems just right. |

2. Prova D - $750 3. PansonTW - $400 4. DAMD electronic interface steering wheel - $886 5. I personally feel a steering wheel upgrade is worth it especially in an actual sports car. |
