Future exhaust set-up advice(R400 + uel catless headers)

Hi everyone,

I'll start off by saying my exhaust is all stock.

Looking into upgrading my exhaust, and this is so far what I think I want.

- Invidia R400 - love the deep sound of this catback from youtube videos + in person.
- UEL Catless Headers (unsure of the brand at the moment)- Like that Subi rumble, and would like the full benefit of going catless on the header.

My ideal exhaust set-up is to have an R400 and run uel catless headers.

However, I am a little concerned of what this will sound like when both paired together.

I mainly want to avoid any potential rasp introduced by going catless uel headers, but still would like that nice R400 sound.

Any advice on what to expect when pairing an R400 with Uel catless headers? Will it become raspy? maybe not?
and if so, is there anything I can do to reduce any potential rasp, with this set-up?

This is all a theoretical wish list at the moment, just want to make sure I have a plan.

Thank you for any advice

It's actually pretty quiet. I've had the exact setup you want to run. Not too quiet, but like pleasantly quiet....daily driver kinda quiet.

I'm daily driving mine.

Did you install them both at the same time? also is there any rasp?

I'd recommend a cat, you can get a high flow cat. They will help with rasp. I made sure to get a cat, resonator and big ass muffler because these cars get loud easy. My exhaust is perfect now that I have the works.

I have the gruppe-s headers and I was going to upgrade but I keep hearing they are some of the best bang for buck headers for our car.

No rasp whatsoever, but I didn't install at the same time no. I've had my cheapo ebay UEL for like 2 almost 3 years. The r400 I installed about a year ago. I've had the header paired with a bunch of different combinations and the r400 was my second favorite.

This is reassuring to hear. Glad you are enjoyed that set-up.

What was your first favorite set-up?

The gruppe-s headers are actually the ones I've been considering.
Heard they are the best bang for your buck.

Where would you recommend adding a high flow cat? front pipe?

Mine is on the front pipe. Best for the cat to be wide open since that is where our terrible torque dip comes from (well pre 2017. IDK about the newer ones).

That's what mine sounds like. I have a single exit exhaust, but no rasp and it's not unbearably loud like my last ebay exhaust.

And high flow should be better. IDK if it is or not I just wanted it to be as quiet as it could be and everything helps. I know quiet as it can be will still be loud, haha so I went with all the bells and whistles (cat, resonator, bit muffler).

Keep it stock, if you want it more loud you can add aftermarket front pipe as needed

My current one. CNT racing catless uel, ISR 2.5" op, Invidia catless resonated fp, Tanabe concept G catback. Plenty of volume, but it's mostly kept outside of the cabin. No drone.

I have the r400 and OFH. Love the sound. I still have the OE overpipe and front pipe at the moment. I do get a little drone at about 80mph. Also a very slight rasp at about 1.5-2.5k rpm under load (sounds like a leaky gasket, have tested multiple times, no leaks) but that should be attributed to the header, i imagine the collector isn't as smooth as it could be.
