Can ecutek license be bought separately, not from tuner? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Might be a noob question but a local dyno tuner is asking for $480 cad + tax, so like $417 USD lol. I see licenses online are 300 USD. Can I just buy my own online and go to him or does it need to be bought specifically from him? Cause that would be ridiculous

buy from the cheaper master tuner you can find, and say to him to abilitate the license to your ecutek kit

I won't be actually purchasing the ecutek kit though. I just get the license and use the tuner's dongle etc

you still need to tell the master tuner you get the license from, the "ID" of the ecutek kit that will be used.

Just buy it online, that is what I did.

I got it from motoeast.

IIRC they require the some info from the dongle the tuner will be using.

Could always ask him to price match if he wants your business.
