iPhone, apps, and a 2017 86AT. Any recommendations?
Beyond Bluetooth for a phone this would be new territory for me. So school my newbie butt on what’s out there and why and how you use it.
Oh I also have a Samsung notebook thingy and I have no problems paying for a decent app if it’s worth it. Cheers TC Last edited by Trickle Charger; 05-11-2018 at 11:09 PM. |

Bluetooth OBD reader and app. "Torque" is popular. I had OBDlink before I got my OFT.

It's a gauge pod on your phone or tablet screen.
You can plug in the obd reader to your car's obd port, pair it with your phone, and read things that aren't displayed on your dash using the app. You can use it with pretty much any vehicle too. |

The most popular is the Torque app that works with pretty much any reader, but some of the cheap ones have poor performance/reliability/support from what I heard. I had a OBDLink reader that worked great, but it's one of the more expensive ones. The OBDLink app only works with their readers of course, but I think you can use Torque too.

I much prefer the OBDlink app personally. Yes the reader is more expensive, but the refresh rate on the data channels is much faster too. You can use it for gauges and they sweep smoothly. |

I always used OBDlink as well. Didn't bother with Torque so good to know I wasn't missing anything.
