AMP trackday participation
I’m scheduling some vacation time in Nova Scotia and was curious about local club requirements for trackday participation; I checked a few club sites (ASCC, MHPDC, etc) and it appears that only club members are eligible to participate. Are there any clubs that permit visitors/guests to attend their events without being a member, similar to the SCCA's Track Night in America program? As a resident of central Massachusetts, I frequent Thompson Motorsports Park, Palmer Motorsports Park, and Lime Rock Park, and would love to add Atlantic Motorsports Park to that list while I’m in the area! Thanks in advance for suggestions/tips.

I just sent your post to a few clubs that are affiliated with AMP. What are the dates you are looking into. From one reply, a member said that for insurance purposes, you would need to be a member, which is 20$.

Thanks! I have no hard dates in mind at the moment, but if the process was simple, I could schedule to accomodate the trackday date(s).
I had one response that said because of AMP's strict policies, they require some sort of licensing/accredation from a club elsewhere, or would at least need to have an instructor ride with me. I don't necessarily object to that, but if there was a simpler solution similar to SCCA TNiA, I'd prefer that. Also a bit of a question is how much room I'll have for 4 track tires in the car, plus tools and luggage...lol. I usually have to put 3 tires in back and one in the front seat...and it's a 9+ hour drive. :-/

I always found that 4 tires in the back seat wouldn't allow me to have the driver's seat back as far as I like...maybe I'm doing it wrong, because they're only 225s...

I had 4 wheels and 4 tires all in the back of my car when I went to get the winters mounted to steels. These winters I have have almost an inch larger diameter than stock.. I'm sure if I wanted to, I could transport 6 wheels in the back without block any of my rear vision. ...... or did you not put the seats down????

Lol - yeah, the back seat was down. I'm actually pretty short for an American, but have stupid-long monkey arms and torso, so while I keep the seat base at an average distance (and bottomed out), the seatback is raked pretty far back so I'm not stuffed right up on the wheel. Track position is totally different, but I keep a pretty relaxed position for street driving, and especially on a long trip.. I'll play around with it again this weekend if the weather clears up.

More info...
As long as they have a current valid lapping, time-attack, or Race license they can ...as there is reciprocity between ASN Canada and BMW, PCA, SCCA, etc... organizations. However we (and I’m sure the driver) would probably want to put you in with one of our instructors for a few laps first to learn the track and make sure they have a handle on things. |

first 2 wheels/tires flat behind the driver and passenger seats, 3rd wheel/tire stacked up on centre top of 1st 2 wheels/tires(may have to play a bit to get it up there), and 4th wheel/tire in the left over space in the trunk. there will be more spaces available on both sides of the 4th wheel/tire for smaller stuffs.

Put the one on the passenger side slightly forward of the one on the drivers side and you'll buy yourself a few inches more space behind the drivers seat.
