Oil Filter, Which and Why?

Which filter do you use and why?

I know the standard is the Subaru/Toyota OEM Filter but if you use an aftermarket one which is it and why do you use it?

bonus question. Do you believe that the TRD/STi oil filters are worth the money?

I use OEM oil filter the short fat black one (Subaru 15208AA130). It's affordable and gets the job done. I think TRD/STI oil filters aren't worth the money personally but if you want it and have the budget then go ahead. If I wanted cool oil filters I would get them from my local shop with their logo laser etched onto the filter.

FRAM because it's orange and oranges are healthy for you, so orange filters must be healthy for your engine.

Usually I buy Wix. I have cut apart a lot of filters and they are well made. No cardboard on the filter element. I have some K&N's right now cause I got a good deal on them.

15208AA130 from Subaru because it's quality, easy to get and relatively inexpensive. I'm not opposed to a higher quality filter, I just don't see the benefit of it on a 99% street driven car.

Whatever filter comes with my lifetime syntetic oil change package, is what I got.

I personally use OEM oil filters and oil. I buy in bulk and I know the quality is going to be good. If you like to make your engine bay look a little more "cool", then go ahead with the STi and/or TRD oil filter. As for performance wise, I don't think there is a difference but correct me if I'm wrong.

I say OEM unless you want a little dress up like the TRD/STI. Otherwise the OEM is cost effective and does a good job from what others have reported.

Oem cheap, does the job. I get mine for $7
If I want to spend a few bucks I get mobile 1 or k&n if it's on sale. It's useless to spend more than $15 for oil filters.

Top of the line Mobil 1 or K&N. Really whatever is on sale at the auto parts shop, which happens to be those usually.

I don't think it makes a damn bit of difference ...... as long as it fits and doesn't leak.

I drove vehicles for years before they even had oil filters ....... yep, sure did ...... (spit).

No, oil filters are not a "mod"
They are a piece of paper.

I'm not saying it's a mod. More asking about filtration levels and pressure reliefs
