Overpipe troubles
So I bought an entire exhaust system... headerback consisting of Tomei UEL and invidia overpipe front pipe and catback
Now I took off the stock catback and front pipe but I am really struggling to take the heat shield off the overpipe. Not only are the bolts rusted but I can’t get enough leverage and I don’t have air tools. I’m wondering if you guys have any tips or suggestions? Also if anyone bought the invidia front pipe, is it me or does the gasket that goes between the front pipe and midpipe section of the catback seem to small? Sorry for being such a noob... I’m using this car to learn how to work on cars lol |

Have you tried spraying the bolts with PB Blaster and letting it soak?
If the heat shield is too much of a PITA, you can always loosen the motor mounts and trans mount and jack the engine to remove the overpipe in one piece. It'll take a little longer but not a big deal imo. |

They attach to the front subframe. Check out google images for pictures. Remove the nut on those, then unbolt the trans mount, then use a flat piece of wood to jack the engine by the oil pan enough to wiggle the overpipe out.

Sweet thanks man and I’m guessing the nut size is like a 12 or 14 mm right?

Before I bought air tools and when I lived in the rust belt I bought myself a MAPP gas torch (about $30 from home depot) and when I used that after letting bolts or nuts soaked overnight in pb blaster that usually did the trick. Also a piece of pipe or a short breaker bar could also help. Good luck

I loosened the passenger side engine mount and jacked the engine up a few inches. Big success for me
