Until it is proven with released engine specs a FB20 (B:84mm S:90mm) is powering a FR-S/FT86. I will still dispute it until the bitter end. Modifications would see little gain with that engine and are limited by the 90mm stroke in the boxer, unless they want us to complete an EJ turbo (or if the new turbo boxer is released) swap.
I have a question I want to ask: If they were just using an untouched FB20 (148bhp) and adding D4-S and heads (to ~200bhp) then why the hell wouldn't they use a FB25 block that is capable of tolerating 170bhp with an open deck??? Think about it... Granted the FB25 as of now is only in the North America Subaru Forester, while the FB20 is just about to make it's way worldwide. But it's not really for costs sake or weight and there's probably space for it, among other things. Seeing the engines that Yamaha has worked on in the past for other manufactures and Toyota leads me to believe that this won't be the case. But you never know. Still a skeptic of a 84mmX90mm is going in. That is all. |
