track day tires that will fit inside

I've seen a lot of info regarding what wheel/tire combos will work on the FRS/BRZ, but nothing specific about which ones will fit inside on the way to the track. Early advertising made a big deal of the fact that one could fit a set of four wheels and tires inside the car behind the front seats with the back seats down. But what about oversize tires? Does anyone have experience with which tire sizes will fit? (I'm assuming the tire size is the limiting factor, not the specific wheel chosen.)

One guy said his 245/40/17 Hoosier A6s on 17x7 rims fit. I know those are on 17x7 but A6s are very wide tires. A 245/40 on a 17x7 is about 9.5"

I have had my stock wheels and tires all in there and it fitted fine. These were just 205x55x16. I wouldn't wanna hit the brakes too hard with that much weight of wheel and tire hitting the back of your seat either.

Space for me was also easier because I'm short

Good point about flying tires under hard braking. I don't suppose there are any tie-down points in the back.

BTW, my current tire-transport method is to take the passenger seat out of my track-day Miata and stuff two tires/wheels in the passenger seat footwell, with the remaining two tires/wheels above and behind them. All four are strapped to the car's roll bar. After that, anything will be an improvement.

I got my 225/40/18 set to fit just fine. It's a bit of a science. You need to fold the back seat down. Stack two tires right behind the drivers seat and lean the third against the stack you just created. Finally, the 4th fits flat in the trunk with your tools and helmet. It's an uncomfortable driving position for me (I'm 6' 3'') but it works!

Yeh I had one tyre slide forward and touch the back of my seat... i could certainly feel it was there. As for tie down points, 100% sure this would be easy because of child seat points

I just put in 1,200 miles with tires standing in the back seat area with no unwanted movements. I used a 12 ft. rachet tie down strap I bought at the local autostore. I used the square brackets that hold the rear seat backs up. The strap went around the tires and then I pulled it real tight.

17x8s with 255/40 Star Specs fit.
One wheel in the trunk.
Fold down the rear seat and stack two on one side, then lean one against that stack.
Didn't affect front seating other than that I leaned the passenger seat back a hair to keep the leaned wheel from moving. Plenty of other solutions around that, but physically everything fits.

I put 2 Pirelli 275/645-18 slicks in mine no problem....1 in the trunk and 1 in the folded down back seat...I think I could have squeezed two in the back seat area...but only 1 would fit in the trunk for sure....too big a tire...
