What's the difference between this two other than price?
Did you use any arm rest on your Toyota 86/Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ? If so which one? I am trying to find the differences between this two: http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/oem-...l#.WlTVN6inGUl and http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/toyo...l#.WlTVOKinGUm but other than the price I don't see any.

One is the OEM part the other is a replica. So that being said there could be fitment problems/material quality problems the list goes on for the replica. With the OEM part you know what your getting. A part made from quality materials for the exact car by OEM engineers not some upstart company. That said not all replicas are bad so do your research by checking forums for others who have tried the replicas for fitment/quality issues before buying if you feel the $40 savings is really worth all that hassel.

One is OEM style. The other is OEM.

Doesn't help that the vendor is using the same photos for both.

Personally I would go with the more expensive OEM part as long as you don't mind waiting a month or so for it. I was just in touch with them about this part yesterday and they're waiting on a shipment from Japan, expected to be 3-4 weeks. For me if I'm going to be drilling holes in my car to install it I want to make sure the fitment and quality is the best possible so that means getting the OEM piece.

Agreed, particularly for the minor difference in price (about 15%), and the lack of photos of the knock-off. If it was substantially cheaper, and there were photos of it installed, I might opt for the knock-off.

There is a video from 86 Speed that compares the OEM armrest to the knock-off:
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP2qfprtw2I"]FRS/BRS ARMREST Overview & Install [Toyota GT86 Vs. OE Style Copy] - YouTube[/ame] I decided to go with the OEM and have been happy with it. Last edited by Nails; 01-09-2018 at 09:58 PM. |

Looks like the OEM arm rest is back in stock ahead of schedule. Just got an email notification that mine shipped and the product page now shows it as in stock.

Does the new 86 have rough pleather like the old 86/BRZ? Or is it smooth?
As far as I know the red stitch oem armrest only comes in rough pleather...and the white stitched one came in smooth |
