Would you buy?
So, i found a 2013 scion frs with 55k miles, rebuilt title for 10k. The car seems to have been modified quite a bit, from the photos provided the accident the car was in has since been fixed up pretty well from what i can see, just thought id get the all mighty internets opinion before i throw all my hard earned money into a car, keep in mind I can’t drive this car, BUT my family can go see the car for me, reason being i am in another country and this car is in my hometown. Should i jump on this offer or pass it up? I greatly appreciate ALL imput or criticism as you’re investing your time to help me. Thank you.

Thanks for confiding in us. Ya, know, I just have a bad feeling about this deal. * you can't see and drive the car and by having your family be your eyes and ears kind of puts them on the spot. * a rebuilt title car can have all kinds of hidden damage * a highly modified car might have been ridden hard * 55,000 miles is quite a few miles I would suggest you pass on this deal. humfrz |

55,000 miles is not "quite a few"; it is exceedingly average. Average number of miles driven in a year is 13,476 according to the Federal Highway Administration. This car is ~ 4 years old which means the average mileage should be 54,948. Otherwise, I still agree with passing on this car given all the other negative factors present.

If it's for the average car, I maintain that that mileage figure (55,000 miles) for an FR-S is above average, for an FR-S ....... therefore "quite a few". In addition, my 2013 FR-S has 25,000 miles ........ so, if I average 25,000 miles and 55,000 miles, I get 40,000 miles. Therefore, 55,000 miles is above that average ....... thus "quite a few". See there ........... ![]() humfrz is looking for things to do ....... except go to Costco to buy toilet paper ....... which will hopefully be the low point of my day ...... ![]() humfrz PS - why does the toddler come to ME pulling on her diaper (which means it's a poopy one) ....... when her ma-ma is sitting right over there .......

if you have lots of body shop experience so you can fix the issues that will crop up yourself, and you can negotiate the seller to a reasonable price of half of what he is asking, then maybe.
Otherwise hell no. |

Rebuilt is 20-50% lower value. Heavy modification would further reduce value.
Remember, if you need a loan, or something unfortunate happens, it doesn't matter what you might have paid ... Though if it's equipped exactly as you would want and you add the parts to your policy, insurance may work out. In case you were curious why everyone said run.
