6speed shift knob

Anyone else noticed that their shift knob won't stay tight?
Also noticing that my plastic emblem on top is lifting.

Got in the car and the shift knob was loose, haddnt touched it at all, didn't notice it being loose while driving beforehand. It has been about +25/30 here for the past week. Started to gently tighten it back to normal and noticed that the plastic emblem was starting to lift and separate so I backed it off. It wasn't even getting tight at this point.

I will be taking it to the dealer to see what they say.

the factory shift knob doesnt have a hard wall for the shaft to bottom out on. It bottoms out on the plastic 6 speed emblem. Back it off one rotation and the emblem should start to go down. I went one further and put some lock tight on mine it started to mess me up while racing my hand would go flying off the shifter because it would rotate

Mine top cap lifts up easy as well if i try to pull it off with my finger nail. If it start to lift up too easy I am going to put some glue under the cap.

Thanks guys.
My guess is that the hot weather caused the glue to loosen.

Will be showing it to the dealer and seeing what they can do. I plan on getting an aftermarket knob anyways, just want something not-shitty in the meantime while it is made/shipped.

Take some Teflon tap and wrap the threads a few times so that it will get tight prior to it touching the emblem. If you need, do several wraps 4-5 or more. Each wrap will slightly decrease the amount of turns to get the knob tight and should add some resistance to coming loose. Plus temperature won't effect it and you won't have to use lock tight.

But I like how the shift knob looks, not interested in an aftermarket knob

One does not simply post pictures of awesome shift knobs without links and/or purchase options!

Already jumped on the group buy for this, waiting for it to be engraved and ship. More of an annoyance that OEM parts are falling apart with 2000kms on the car...
flossy Shift Knob
flossy knobs group buy
group buy is done now though.

That's what I've done for now, I had to do this in my civic with an aftermarket knob and the boot adapter because the shift pattern wouldn't align correctly.

Really seems like all the cars I own have problems with the shift knobs,
06 civic SI, scratched to shit just by looking at it.
01 jetta, poor "leather" quality,
BRZ, see above. Good excuse to purchase an aftermarket knob though.

Bwhaha, the 06+ Si shift knob WAS crap and scratched from absolutely nothing. I got the Greddy/Trust Billet style one to replace it, well worth it.

I gave in just moments ago to get a WC Lathe Werks one in stainless gunmetal finish for the FR-S. Can't wait to get it in and put it on! Love me a nice, heavy metal shift knob.
