I leased a BRZ with performance package.
I used to have a stock FRS that I have upgraded all fluids, tires, and brakes before the track.
Now I have a new BRZ with performance package and a little under 1000k miles. I will be tracking in about a week or so, for the first time with this car. Should I do the same upgrades I did with the FRS or can I just leave it the way it is and just change everything as per service manual since I have a service package with the dealership?
and I am thinking that since it has a "performance" package id assume Subaru would make it track ready out of the box.

"performance package" does not mean track ready, so you'll want to do the same stuff as you've done before, plus any maintenance items for being at 1,000,000 miles

Would I still be able to survive a track day with the stock components, since they are fairly new, and replace them after the day?
my concern is if the brake pads are street compound would they survive and be able to get me home and daily drive until new compound comes in?

How much did you use up the pads on your last car?

If you were killing street/hybrid pads and using up track pads at a decent rate then I'd suspect you'd kill the stock PP system as well by the end of the day. If you were ok on street pads like Hawk HP or Stoptech on track then I think you may get away with tracking the PP mostly stock. Hybrid pads would be a toss up.

I'd do brake fluid at an absolute minimum. Really the braking system is the weakest point on an 86 for track duty so it comes down to what pads you think you'll need to have a fun safe day.

Don't worry about pads and fluids on your first day out in it. I did 3 hours in one day on a track in mine back in March with 100% stock components and it handled it like a champ. Had to swap fluid and pads after, but I didn't notice any pedal softness or anything until I was in my 2nd to last session.

I'm thinking of doing that just so I can experience some brake fade so I can learn to react properly in that situation without being completely out of skill. I figured that these cars are designed to be teetering on the limit, to help train the nut behind the wheel, so I'd assume the brakes would be on a similar standing.

But this might be a dumb question. Since the performance package has bigger brake calipers and disks, are the pads bigger as well?
Or do I just get the same stoptech pads I did before?

If you were fine on those stoptech pads you'll be fine on the PP, you'd probably be fine on stock pads as well.

imho do a fluid flush anyway.

You don't have to be paranoid about your brakes all day, but pay attention to how they feel along with the million other things you should pay attention to.

If they start feeling soft then ease up, get off throttle a bit early when you come up to the corner and ease onto the brakes, ease off of them, don't hit them as hard and you'll be fine. You can still have fun carrying momentum and powering out of the corner.
