2017 Limited Oil Temp?

Hey ya'll,

Does anyone know how accurate the newer oil temp gauge on the 2017 models is? Curious if I should trust it or if it's just a dummy gauge.

Cheers

just a guess here... but i really doubt its a "dummy gauge"

seems pretty accurate to me

while having the gauge displayed, you can hit the middle button on the D-pad on the right side of the steering wheel to show/hide temp numbers

No idea how accurate it is, but I often see around 240-260 when I drive around town and keep the revs in the upper range.

depending on how spiritedly you're driving...that is probably pretty accurate

I compared the 2017 dashboard gauge to the DashCommand app hooked up to a bluetooth dongle. The info must be coming from the same place, because the numbers are exactly the same.

The dashboard gauge is really nice to have - easy to read that 190 degree point, and good not to push the car until the oil warms up.

That being said, it's difficult to tell just exactly what the temp is on that scale once you get above 190 degrees. I was finding that it was easy to hit 230-240 degrees just driving around the canyons. This was the same in the 2013 that I previously had.

Had my mechanic install the Perrin oil cooler, and now I'm more in the 210-215º range when driving in the canyons. Should be perfect for keeping oil temps reasonable once i start hitting the track again, too.

It's 100% accurate for what you want to know: general engine oil temps.

If you have a specific need for oil temps to hit a target mark, you would run secondary/independent sensors to get the readings you want anyhow.
