Tire warmers

It's going to be in the upper 30's Saturday night and if I'm running first in the morning on Sunday the tires could be quite cold so I decided to build tire warmers/blankets.

I had a friend question the tire warmers I'm in the process of making and I want to double check that they are in fact legal for autox use in the grid. My understanding is and from what I've seen at national events is that they are ok to use as passive heat capturing blankets? Can the car be idled in my grid spot with the warmers on?

The only rule I can find on the subject.

My tire blanket.

You may use heat coming off your engine or heat coming from exposure to sunlight. You may not use any tools to add heat to either the blankets or the tires.

with those tire covers, you may have the engine idling while in your grid spot.

Mike?

If you're who I think you are, this is one of those times when picking up a trusted co-driver will help more. Co-driver and blankets? Even better.

Good luck, I'll be in Watkins Glen, which seals my season points fate.

Hey Mike, it's Mike!

A co-driver would be ideal. I'm interested to see how the blankets work.

Thank you and good luck at the Glen!

No blankets in Pro Solo, just in case you do one next year.
