AST Dampers just arrived!
I don't have data on fitment or performance yet. But AST has developed a FT86 specific damper with their new 4150 valving. These are specifically designed for this car, not a threaded perch with a generic damper screwed into it. I'm out of town currently, so AST delivered them to 949 Racing, who took the photo below and posted it to facebook (and I cross posted it on FE Competition's site).
We're going testing at Buttonwillow weekend after this one. We'll base line the car, then move to the new dampers, and then maybe to new tires depending on time and availability of tires. We're going to start with 450 springs in the front and rear, and see what we need to do for adjustment. Hopefully we won't need to change too many times as its going to be hot. and suspension jobs suck in 100 deg heat. I'll post up more when I have more to share. Matt

I saw this on Facebook today when 949Racing posted it up. I look forward to hearing how the testing goes with the AST's. I've got 949/Xida AST's on my Miata and Strano-sourced AST's for my Mustang. My BRZ will probably end up with AST's eventually as well.

I loved my AST's on my previous car. I was waiting for these to come out for my FR-S. Exciting.

Nice! Look forward to seeing how they do. We've run ASTs numerous times and we're always impressed.

From 949Racing's Facebook post:
$2200 kit w/springs + $450 for front camber plates, $279 for rear non adjustable billet mounts. Or you can use OEM steel rear mounts.

We'll have these as well. AST makes an amazing set-up. Worth every penny IMHO.

the 4150's have the new generation of valving, and "we" (ie - AST, 949 and me) would like to test these out. My understanding is that the singles will be upgradeable to doubles or triples with remote canisters in the future. for now, on a basically stock car, these should work great. Yes, AST's will be available through multiple shops. Shops with test time will be able to provide specific set up configurations and spring rates as well.
Just ordered 255/40/17 RS3's for the 17x9" wheels to test. A couple of us are making guesses at lap times at buttonwillow CW 13 for next weekend. Anyone else care to take a wild guess before we get there?
