BRZ owners thinking about using the Open Flash Tablet READ HERE

So I went through some unnecessary headache today getting the stage 1 tune on my car. When I first set it up and had the OFT read my ecu, I went through the menus and selected the Subaru BRZ like you'd think. However, the engine it gave was not the FA20 for whatever reason and so it was not able to generate any tunes; i.e. the write button was greyed out. You must select the Toyota GT 86 when first reading your ecu. That will ensure that the OFT thinks its communicating with an FA20, which it is. I had to erase the data on the OFT with the manager on my computer. Then I was able to get the stage 1 tune on my car

tl;dr follow these steps so you don't mess up like I did

found this post while googling the same issue, trying brz again after oft update

ok that didnt work, wiping oft again

after selecting Toyota now it builds the tune files after reading ECU that's a step in the right direction

took me a few attempts, but using the Toyota as the car seemed to do the trick. thank you for figuring this out! finished the 45 second idle procedure and will head out in a little while to get some mileage in

I did email support after trying a few things, we'll see what they come back with and I'll update here if its beneficial

recevied an email back from support indicating I would need to get new files from them to put on the oft after providing calibration id

Just got the betas and successfully flashed mine. The warm-up idle sounds really smooth. Too bad it's too late to go try it

Then choose Toyota as the vehicle manufacturer and then either the GT86 or FRS, whichever it shows. Its the same steps as in the video

Glad to know I'm not the only one who's done this lol
